Julie Legred, CVT

JulieLegred.jpgJulie Legred, CVT graduated in 1985 with an Associate’s degree in Animal Health Technology from the University of Minnesota – Waseca and passed the VTNE and MN State Exam that same year. 
She is currently working for Banfield Pet Hospital as the Veterianry Technician Program Specialist, which her top responsibility is assisting Banfield Field Leaders and hospitals in hiring credentialed technicians and building relationships with the veterinary technology programs and associations. 
She and her husband are co-owners of LSG Healthsystems, Inc.  They have over 100,000 pigs within this company and she is responsible for the coordination of special procedures that are performed such as c-sections and embryo transfers. 
Julie is very active in the Minnesota Association of Veterinary Technicians as Convention & Sponsorship Chair and the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America as Past President, serving as President in 2008 and 2011 and Member at Large from 2005 and 2006.  She has been serving on the American Veterinary Medical Association – Committee on Veterinary Technician Education & Activities since 2005, which is the accrediting body for veterinary technology programs and the American Veterinary Medical Association -Convention Meeting and Planning Committee as Technician Track Section Manager since 2006.  She is a current board member of the Companion Animal Parasite Council and has been serving in this capacity since 2007. 
She has most recently taken part in the AAHA Nutritional Guidelines task force which is now a published piece and worked on additional assessment tools with Dr. Tony Buffington for these Guidelines.  She was asked to be an organizing member for the Pet Nutrition Alliance in 2010 and currently active on this Board today.
Julie received the Minnesota Veterinary Technician of the Year in 2002 and 2007. 
As well as her career accomplishments, Julie is kept very busy with and is very proud of her family of 14, which includes her husband Brent, her 4 boys (Justin 25 yrs, Kaylan 13 yrs, Karson 11 yrs, & Kamron 9 yrs), 3 dogs (Rindi - Golden Retriever, Ralphy – Pug & Buddy – Pug), 3 cats (Harriet, Dora & Pickle), 2 cockatiels (Tommy Boy & Turkey), & 1 tortoise (Sammy).  She is a very active hockey, baseball, football and basketball mom and claims title of sports mom chauffeur.
